3 Secrets to Having Fun Disrupting the World

This is going to be FUN!

After all, doing great things doesn’t have to be drudgery.

As executives and managers, R&D or Human Resources, corporate or entrepreneurs, we are looking to disrupt the world in 2017.  Let’s see how we can have more fun in the process.

Secret #1:  Humor is Creative Disruption.

Humor thrives on the unexpected turn (i.e. disruption).   To have some fun, experiment by taking a right angle to a linear conversation.  We find humor in incongruity and a violation of expectations, leading to others asking, “How do you come up with these?”

While we all have different senses of humor, we can find the principle of this humor illustrated in these 3 jokes from http://www.JokeBudha.com

Why Indeed

1. Is it good if a vacuum really sucks?
2. Why is the third hand on the watch called the second hand?
3. If a word is misspelled in the dictionary, how would we ever know?

How can you create more humor and disruption by using incongruity?

Secret #2:  Laughter is Contagious and Disruption is too.

Looking to build a team of disruptors?  Have fun.  Laugh.  Like yawning, laughter is contagious.  When one laughs everyone else joins them.  Everyone wants to be involved.  Imagine what happens when a team starts having a great time doing things no one thought could be done?  Everyone wants to be on that team.

Secret #3:   Disruption is a Fun Adventure

Like many people, I get too serious in my disruptive writing and working.  Too many of us follow the old expectations that serous work cannot be fun.

But there is something that makes our eyes light up, brings a smile to our face and laughter from our lungs – surprising others with an unexpected success.  It could be in creating something fantastic or from seeing the positive lessons learned from a failure.  (We could all use a little more laughter in those tough situations.)
